Websites
I started my career in graphic design making brochures for furniture collections and advertisements for music brands in commercial magazines. *Cue me flipping through the latest issue of Guitarist magazine in WH Smith, to find my guitar ads gleaming from the pages!
Not content with just designing adverts, I decided to teach myself web design and began building WordPress websites for the music brands I was advertising. My first website launch was for a UK version of Crafter Guitars; an online brochure with photos, videos, artist endorser promotions and a UK network of guitar dealers. The website was really well received and I soon found myself on a plane to South Korea to visit the factory and to meet the owner. It was incredible!
Launching Crafter UK has been my benchmark in marketing brands and opened doors for me to work in other music events as well, especially The UK Drum Show.
I have worked for a number of quite different products and services since Crafter including several auto brands, healthcare companies, online learning programmes in America, aviation brands and more!
Social Media Content Creation
The majority of work that I do currently is in video creation and editing reels for clients who do not have the time to learn video editing tools for their social media presence. These reel covers are a sample of the work I do for events and local businesses.
EvergreenWales
Full social media strategy and management for a Cardiff landscaping company. Short-form reel editing of time-lapse videos, before and after project carousels and how-to videos form the basis of their content to drive interest and aspirations from customers.
Tidy Socials
New social media startup focusing on social media management and content creation for trades based in South Wales.
The UK Drum Show
Heavily focused around drummer appearances and interactive stands at the show, The UK Drum Show was promoted with weekly countdowns and artist reveals to help sell tickets in the lead up to the main event in Liverpool.
Chappell Services
On location filming and editing to create how-to videos for Steve’s Speedy Services, a car garage maintenance business in Cardiff.
The slider above is a sample of the many campaigns and fun graphics I have created over the years in social media. These were created before the reel revolution that dominates much of the content that we see on social media today.
Branding & Design
I’ve designed a few logos for music brands including The UK Drum Show and Music Instrument News (MIN). The Drum Show was inspired by the ‘Rock On’ hand shape with drumsticks as I often saw kids making these signs with their favourite artists in photos. The MIN logo was inspired by digital music waves and colours displayed on an amp. I’ve also created logos for local businesses including gas engineers, landscapers and organic food brands.
Website Builds
WordPress is my CMS of choice and I’ve built dozens of websites using this platform. My first WP website was for Crafter guitars and my latest was a revamp for EvergreenWales. I also built and managed a variety of music related websites including The UK Drum Show and MIN plus many others.
At Bearmach I re-designed the UI and UX for a brand new website that was built on a bespoke vehicle search platform. I designed all the main pages including the home page, category pages, product and brand pages and consulted on the payment system UX. I also created a WordPress portal for Land Rover enthusiasts where they could listen to our in-house podcasts, read brand ambassador stories, find upcoming events and buy merchandise.
I was also contracted to help with the large-scale migration of hundreds of pages and interactive lessons for an American membership learning platform at 4-H.org which was relaunched in 2023.
Presentation Design
Possibly an unpopular opinion but I quite like PowerPoint! I’ve built a few presentation slide decks for a healthcare company and also for an aviation firm. These have been used for town hall company meetings, instruction manuals and layouts ready for importing into Articulate Storyline.
As part of my branding work, I often create patterns that can be used for packaging. I made the pattern below for Churro Delights.
